Adult Spiritual Growth and Fellowship
Adult Education is offered at 11 AM on Sundays after the Church service. We offer a wide variety of original and popular studies ranging from evangelism to evolution. Our classroom leaders are drawn from both the pulpit and the congregation and they have brought to the classroom their personal experiences in fields such as theology, education, law, medicine and science. Recent studies have covered such diverse topics as "The Chronicles of Narnia", "Chasing Daylight", "The History of the Bible", "Amazing Grace", "Verdict" and "The Declaration of Independence".
Special program series are scheduled from time-to-time; past series include the "Forty Days of Purpose", "Alpha", "An Ordinary Day with Jesus", and "Go Fish".
Women’s Ministry - The purpose of the
Women’s Ministry is to have women of all ages come together and help each other
grow in our Christian faith and responsibility through fell
owship, study, prayer
and service. We host a variety of activities which include monthly fellowship
programs, our Litwits book club that meets monthly and begins with a social time
and potluck, and our annual retreat. There
are two Bible study groups offered for women only
and each year we have an ongoing service project. It is our hope that with the
variety of activities we plan, everyone will find something that appeals to them
and join us!
Our annual fashion show and gourmet luncheon is scheduled for April 5. Sign up now! More information by clicking here.
The current service project for Women’s Fellowship is Blankets for Kids. We are going into our 3rd year supporting this worthwhile organization. As of September, 2007 we have donated 349 blankets. Blankets for Kids donates fleece blankets to community service people who in turn give them to children in need of a warm cuddly. These are children who for a variety of reasons have been removed from their homes, or have lost their homes in tragic circumstances. We love supporting this project and pre-cut fleece is nearly always available in the church office. While we have lots of women making the blankets, we would like to make a plea for funding to buy more blanket fabric. We always take a lot of cut blanket fabric to the women’s retreat for the women to work on while we are at the retreat. We need monetary donations so that we can buy more fabric so we can continue this very worthwhile project.
Last year we donated over $200 and countless care package items to the Blue Star Moms who in turn support our troops serving overseas.
Men’s Ministry - Proverbs 27:17 says, "As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another." We believe men need to be in fellowship, study, and prayer with other men. Opportunities for fellowship exist by way of by way of monthly Men's Breakfasts, the annual Men's Retreat, retired men's lunch on Wednesdays and Bible Study on Friday mornings.
SWELL (Single Women Enjoying Living Life) provides a connection to God through the JKPC church family and extended church community. Group events are hosted in private homes.
The next meeting will be Saturday, January 26 @ 7 PM. It will be the annual
Pirate Gift Exchange & Dessert Extravaganza.
The Parish Life Committee of our church’s Session sponsors a fellowship and outreach program. It is the social arm of JKPC and provides us an opportunity to get better acquainted while having fun. It is open to all adults; individuals as well as couples, members as well as friends of JKPC. While the main emphasis is on socializing, the fellowship program also contributes to the well being of JKPC. Watch for current activities in the Church bulletin and the monthly Kerygma newsletter. We just had a great time at our annual golf scramble and potluck later at the Fox's. The winning team is shown to the right.
Cursillo is a special retreat weekend for those who feel called to re-explore their Christian faith. The three-day weekend is held in any of several Bay Area retreat centers and is sponsored by those who have already participated in a Cursillo weekend. The next weekend will be May 1-4 in San Francisco.
The weekend includes speakers sharing about personal faith, Christ in our daily environments and personal relationships, and Christian leadership, action, and service. Interspersed with humor, this special retreat will help those both young and old in the Christian faith see Christ and His message as the fullness in life.
