John Knox Presbyterian Church
is a family-oriented church that's been around almost 50 years. We are a friendly
congregation that welcomes new faces. Our Sunday service, at 9:30 a.m., is Biblically-based
and features both traditional and contemporary music. There's Sunday School for kids and
teens with nursery care for infants. After worship, we have a fellowship hour that offers
coffee, juice and a time to meet and connect with others.
The Children’s Emergency Food Bank is a local non-profit organization serving Danville, Dublin, Pleasanton and San Ramon. The Food Bank provides food for families in emergency situations, rather than ongoing support. As we have no paid staff and our food storage area is donated, the only overhead we have is for our groceries, answering service maintenance and telephone.
The Food Bank is an all-volunteer organization that operates on JKPC property. Our objective is to furnish canned and packaged food plus certificates from local markets to obtain fresh foods. We try to give each family, based on their need and family size, enough food for a week. Vouchers are available twice yearly for fresh food. We also have a Christmas giveaway which includes turkeys and hams donated by Raleys.
Appointments are made with volunteers, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., who then meet with the recipients at the Food Storage Building located between the back playground and the church parking lot. If there is a real emergency over the weekend, every effort is made to help.
Donations of non-perishable food and money to purchase food, as needed, are always welcome. We are a part of Raley’s Food for Families Program and receive continued support from them. We receive no assistance from Alameda or Contra Costa Food Banks. If you have any questions, need help or would like to help out, please call our answering service at (925) 828-5363 or write us at Children’s Emergency Food Bank, 7421 Amarillo Road, Dublin, CA 94568.
Weddings
We love having our facility used for Christian weddings. The sanctuary has beautiful stained glass windows and a center aisle. Your first step should be to contact Nancy Stokely, our facility coordinator, Mondays or Wednesdays, 9 a.m.–4 p.m. Nancy will need to know your preferred wedding date and time. She will confirm that both our pastor, Dr. Randy McGrady-Beach, and the Wedding Coordinator, Teresa DeHope, are available. Should you wish to use your own Christian pastor, we can usually accommodate your request. If you are interested in more information and rates, please contact the church office.
Memorials
This is usually a period of great stress for families, we'd like to help provide support during this time. We are glad to make the sanctuary available for both memorial and funeral services. Please contact the pastor and the church office to discuss arrangements, service options, fees, etc. Should you wish to use your own pastor, we can usually accommodate your request. The Fellowship Hall may be used for receptions following a service, subject to its availability. Please contact us to discuss further.
Facility Usage
Our facility is a busy one. We have two preschools that meet on site, a food bank that operates here as well as many outside groups, from Alanon to Girl Scouts, that regularly meet on the campus. Though the facility is used quite fully, should your group need a meeting location, feel free to contact Nancy Stokely, Facility Coordinator, Mondays or Wednesday, in the church office to check for availability.
